The Tres Marias Golf Club shot to international fame in April 2005 when it hosted the LPGA Corona Championship, undoubtedly the most prestigious women's circuit in the world (where golfer Lorena Ochoa realized some of the most striking achievements in the pages of worldwide golf history.) Since then the tournament has been held every year at Tres Marias during the second week of April.
The course, as already mentioned, is the work of the legendary Jack Nicklaus. True to their signature, the Nicklaus Design team has produced a fantastic course on a beautiful landscape. Nicklaus classified the 27-hole Golden Bear course as one of the "most spectacular courses I've seen in my life," because of the challenges involved through rugged canyons, marked by superb natural beauty.
Tres Marías Golf Club spans 550 hectares, and boasts a complex that houses fantastic services, size, and comfort. Among the green lawns, lakes and rivers and dramatic views of the cliffs stand the Tres Marías, a formation of three rocks in rock monoliths that are the emblem of development.
Tres Marias Golf Club is also conveniently located, linking cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Guanajuato and the seaport of Lázaro Cárdenas, a distance of no more than two hours and 15 minutes by car.
