Cozumel Golf

The Nicklaus Design Group has successfully balanced the strict requirements of building a first-class golf course within the delicate ecosystem of the surrounding mangroves, marshlands and tropical rainforest. The golf course is home to blue crabs, iguanas, crocodiles, raccoons and a multitude of species of birds as well as other wildlife which call this habitat home.

Four sets of tees allow golfers of all skill levels to enjoy their round of golf as well as the peace and quiet of the natural surroundings and Cozumel Country Club also offers an additional option - The FASTEE COURSE! One of only two in Mexico, Measuring 3,219, The FASTEE COURSE, is perfect for juniors, seniors and beginners. Because of its strong commitment to an environmental program, in March 2006 Cozumel Country Club became the first golf course in Mexico to earn the designation of Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary from Audubon International. To reach certification, a course must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas including: Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.

Cozumel Country Club is owned and operated by ClubCorp.

"Perhaps the most common goal for golf course designers, and certainly Nicklaus Design, is to create a golf course that is enjoyable for all skill levels of player, but from the back tees, provides the good test of golf even the best players could envision.

Most of all, you want the experience to be a memorable one, and something that will bring the golfer back time and time again. Cozumel Country Club is such a golf course." - Steve Nicklaus

Cozumel Country Club is the first and only golf course on the Mexican Caribbean island of Cozumel. The 18 hole golf course was designed by Steve Nicklaus, of the Nicklaus Design Group. Cozumel Country Club is located in the northern Hotel Zone of the island. It is a 10 minute drive from the International Airport and 15 to 20 minutes from the cruise ship piers.

The golf course is cut through the native vegetation of the island and was built under strict environment guidelines from the Mexican Government. The Club has integrated itself into the local community by continuing to maintain environmental standards and by participating in Environmental Educational programs for community youth. Cozumel Country Club is home to a variety of flora and fauna and is also the first golf course in Mexico to achieve certification as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
